We are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chairman for the International Rail Quality Board (IRQB). At our latest Steering Committee meeting, Markus Kleinheidt from Knorr-Bremse was elected as the new Chairman from 1st October, succeeding Stefan Siegler from Siemens.

Stefan Siegler, has been closely involved with the IRQB since its foundation in September 2018. As the first IRQB chairman, he played a key role in shaping the IRQB into a global consortium of twenty-one leading companies in rail operations, system integration and equipment manufacturing. He actively fostered a global quality culture by promotion of IRIS Certification® developments, including the introduction of quality performance and the recognition of the full ISO standard.

Markus Kleinheidt, Vice President Quality & HSE, who has represented Knorr-Bremse Rail Division in the IRQB since 2018, has made significant contributions to IRQB activities and brings experience in broader Quality topics, IRIS Certification®, and the IATF 16949 Standard.

We now look forward to Markus guiding IRQB with fresh ideas and a strong commitment to further advancing rail quality and strengthening collaboration across the sector.
